What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants consist of an implant post that is surgically placed in your jawbone onto which we attach a custom dental crown. Together, this creates a permanent tooth replacement option that looks, feels, and functions naturally. Dental implants can provide the foundation for a single dental crown, a dental bridge, or a full arch of prosthetic teeth. The benefits of dental implants include:

  • Permanently restores one, several, or all missing teeth
  • Fits and blends naturally into surrounding teeth
  • Prevents further jawbone loss
  • Restores natural tooth biting and chewing function
  • Sturdy, strong, and long-lasting

Can Dental Implants

Change My Life?

Dental implants are a foundation for replacement teeth that function and feel like your natural teeth. You won’t need to worry about cutting out hard or crunchy foods or having your denture slip or shift. You can eat whatever you like and smile confidently.

Have you ever seen a person with collapsed facial structure because they have no teeth? Dental implants will not only give you back the ability to enjoy your life, but they also retain the structure of your face and preserve your youthful appearance.

How Do We Use

Dental Implants?

Dental implants can be used to:

  • Replace a single tooth
  • Replace multiple individual teeth
  • Anchor a fixed dental bridge
  • Stabilize a full set of dentures

Since implants are secured in the jaw with titanium roots, they don’t require the support of adjacent teeth to stay in place. You will be amazed at how natural dental implants look and feel once they are placed. Dental implants also prevent jawbone deterioration, look and act like natural teeth, are easy to care for and last for years.

The Dental Implant

Treatment Process

Getting dental implants is a straightforward and comfortable process. The first phase of your treatment involves carefully planning how your dental implant and crown will look. Next, you’ll undergo dental implant surgery to place the implant post into your jawbone. After a short healing period, the third phase of your treatment includes getting your dental implant restored with a custom dental crown.

Types of Dental Implants

Single

Implants

Single implants are used to replace one missing tooth. The implant is placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone over a period of several months. Once the implant has fused with the bone, an abutment is attached to the implant, and a custom-made crown is placed on top. This creates a natural-looking, functional replacement tooth that is designed to last for many years.

Full-Mouth Implants

Full-mouth implants are used to replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw. This is a more extensive procedure that typically involves placing multiple implants throughout the jawbone. Once the implants have fused with the bone, they can be used to support a full arch of replacement teeth. Full-mouth implants are a long-lasting, natural-looking solution for those who have lost all of their teeth.

Implant-Supported Bridges

Implant-supported bridges are used to replace several missing teeth in a row. The bridge is supported by two or more dental implants that are placed into the jawbone. The implants provide a stable anchor for the bridge, which is designed to look and function like natural teeth. Implant-supported bridges are a durable, long-lasting solution for those who have lost multiple teeth in a row.

Ceramic Dental Implants

Ceramic Dental Implants

Ceramic Dental Implants

Ceramic dental implants are a modern and innovative solution for replacing missing teeth. Made from high-quality ceramic materials, these implants are designed to mimic the natural look and feel of your teeth, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits. These benefits are delivered without the traditional titanium post.

One of the key advantages of ceramic implants is their remarkable resemblance to natural teeth. The color and translucency of the ceramic material blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, creating a beautiful, harmonious smile. Dr. Falkenberg believes ceramic implants are an excellent choice for individuals seeking a discreet and natural-looking tooth replacement option.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, ceramic implants also offer exceptional durability and biocompatibility. The ceramic material we use at Longmont Dental Care makes these implants highly resistant to wear and tear, ensuring a long-lasting solution for your missing teeth. Additionally, ceramic is a biologically inert material, meaning it is well-tolerated by the body, reducing the risk of allergies or adverse reactions.

At Longmont Dental Care, the procedure for placing ceramic dental implants is minimally invasive and typically involves two main stages. First, the implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone, providing a strong and stable foundation. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, ensuring a secure and durable fit. Once the implant has fully integrated, a custom-made ceramic crown is attached to the implant, completing the restoration and giving you a fully functional and natural-looking tooth.

We prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction. Dr. Falkenberg and his team in Longmont, CO will guide you through every step of the ceramic implant process, ensuring a smooth and successful treatment journey. Longmont Dental Care will also provide comprehensive aftercare instructions to support proper healing and long-term maintenance of your implant.
